MECHANER is a dedicated model engineering project born from a passion for mechanical precision, timeless materials, and the enduring craft of miniature metal construction.
The Heritage & Inspiration
For more than a century, metal construction sets—pioneered by legendary systems like Meccano, Märklin, and TRIX—have inspired generations of builders, engineers, and inventors. MECHANER was conceived as a tribute to that golden age of mechanical toys, reimagined with contemporary precision manufacturing and heirloom-grade finishes.
Rather than relying on oversized stampings or synthetic materials, every MECHANER set is engineered to a true miniature scale. Our proprietary standard features an ultra-fine 6 mm (1/4") hole pitch, allowing builders to assemble remarkably compact, highly intricate machines that fit in the palm of your hand.
Craftsmanship & Materials
Every piece in the MECHANER system is chosen for permanence and tactile pleasure:
- Precision-Cut Stainless Steel: Structural plates, girders, brackets, and levers are crafted from premium polished stainless steel, delivering rigid structural strength and corrosion resistance.
- 24-Karat Gold-Plated Fasteners: All screws, miniature bolts, and nuts utilize miniature M2 threads, electroplated in genuine 24-karat gold for an exquisite visual contrast against mirror-finish steel.
- Solid Brass Gears: Functional gear trains, worm drives, and pinions are machined to tight tolerances for smooth mechanical movement.
- Handmade Presentation Boxes: Finished sets are cradled in custom-crafted solid wood presentation cases, lined with deep velvet flocking to protect each miniature component.
Our Philosophy
MECHANER is not an anonymous mass-market commodity. It is an independent maker project run with the patience, attention to detail, and pride of a classic British craftsman's workshop. Every model design—from our vintage 1932 Roadster and Postal Biplane to our upcoming Crocodile Electric Locomotive—is thoroughly tested, iterated, and built by hand before drawings are shared.
