The Wooden Box

The pieces are stainless steel, the screws gold-plated, and the box will be wooden. Were you expecting anything else?

It's really just about making sure the packaging matches the contents. A simple, elegant wooden box with gold fittings and a velvet lining. I wouldn't say it's an over-the-top goal, but getting there involved a few bizarre experiences, much like when I bought up all the stainless screws in the country.
In short, I haven't yet managed to find a company that could make the boxes to my drawings. So, in the end, I gave up and made the photo samples myself. The sides are made from beech strips, and the bottom and lid from waterproof birch plywood. The logo is laser-burned. I stained the entire box in a light oak colour.
For technical reasons, I had to tweak the samples a bit. Originally, the corners were supposed to have dovetail joints, but instead, I glued them with finger joints because I didn't have the necessary cutters. Also, the fittings aren't Schmale, just whatever eBay could offer.
The velvet lining is the most important part of the packaging. The base is an MDF board with pockets milled out for the pieces. The tricky part was mainly the drawing and layout of the components; the actual manufacturing is fairly straightforward. Then you need to glue flock onto the board to create the velvet surface. More on that next time.
